Adult Classes & Workshops

We firmly believe that it's never too late to explore your artistic passions or discover a new creative avenue. That's why we offer a broad range of classes and workshops designed specifically for adults. From painting and pottery to photography and music, our offerings span a diverse spectrum of art forms. These courses, taught by accomplished local artists and educators, cater to various skill levels, whether you are a novice just beginning your artistic journey, or an experienced artist looking to refine your craft. Our workshops provide a dynamic, hands-on learning environment, encouraging participants to engage their creativity, express their ideas, and develop their artistic skills. No matter where you are on your artistic journey, our classes and workshops provide an inclusive, welcoming space to learn, create, and grow. Free Throw Pottery Wheel

 

Class Start Date: Tuesday, March 12th

Session #1:     10 AM-12 PM

Session #2:   6-8 PM

$90 Members / $100 Not-Yet Members

 

This class is designed for intermediate students that have taken and mastered the beginner’s wheel throwing class at the CCA.  Students will continue to hone their abilities while challenging themselves with more advanced skills such as spout-making, lid-making, or increase in scale.  Class is limited to 6 students. Students must have completed the  Introduction to Wheel Throwing Class at the CCA within the previous 6 months to be eligible for this class. 

Supply fees: 
$35 Tool Rental & Clay Fee - includes access to studio equipment during instructional time including wheel, bats, buckets, sponges, ribs, wire tools, needle tools, loop trimming tools,
includes 25 pound bag of clay and associated glazing and firing (Please be advised that clay will be purchased on the first day of class from the instructor - please bring cash or check to cover cost. Additional bags of clay can be purchased as needed throughout the session.)

Classes will begin on March 12, 2024. The remaining classes will be on March 19th, March 26th, April 9th, April 16th, and April 23rd. There will be no classes on 4/2 and 4/30 for drying/firing.

Shaping Pottery

Intro to Wheel Throwing

 

Class Start Date: Thursday, March 14th

 6-8 PM

$90 Members / $100 Not-Yet Members

 

Let’s get messy! In this class you will learn the basics of wheel throwing: centering, opening, pulling, trimming, and glazing. While focusing on bowls and cylinders, you will develop your skills and hopefully develop a passion for clay. This class is a prerequisite for continuing pottery classes at CCA. Class size is limited to 6 students.  

Supply fees: 
$35 Tool Rental & Clay Fee - includes access to studio equipment during instructional time including wheel, bats, buckets, sponges, ribs, wire tools, needle tools, loop trimming tools,includes 25 pound bag of clay and associated glazing and firing (Please be advised that clay will be purchased on the first day of class from the instructor - please bring cash or check to cover cost. Additional bags of clay can be purchased as needed throughout the session.)

Classes will begin on March 14, 2024. The remaining classes will be on March 21st, March 28th, April 11th, April 18th, and April 25th.  There will be no classes on 4/4 and 5/2 for drying/firing.

Shaping Clay

Intro to Hand Building

3-Class Series

Thursday's: March 14th, March 21st, and March 28th

10-12 AM

 

In this class you will learn the basics of building creative pottery pieces using your hands and techniques such as slab building, coiling, or pinch pots. No previous experience with clay is necessary. Class size is limited to 6 students. 

Registration Costs: 
$60 for members of CCA, $80 for non-members

Supply Fees: 
$25 Tool Fee - includes access to studio equipment during instructional time including banding wheels, buckets, sponges, ribs, wire tools, needle tools, and texturing tools (please note no additional clay costs are required for this class)

Theme: Stop and Smell the Flowers

During the first two classes of each session students will aim to complete two flower containers. The last class of each session will focus on glazing their creations. Students will be able to pick up their fired containers after May 9.
